Vernales Awarded #1 Steakhouse in Michigan

Northern Michigan’s newest steakhouse, Vernales, was recently named the #1 Steakhouse in Michigan by Mlive writer John “Gonzo” Gonzalez and for good reason.

“A great staff, quality steaks and a chef who is creative, imaginative and not afraid of letting the meat speak for itself,” Gonzo wrote on October 3 when he made his public announcement on Mlive.com. “Owners Joe Guthrie and Keith Lynch (who is executive chef) give you plenty of options: fine dining in the main room, a more intimate experience in the Cellar Room and even a classy sports bar with plenty of TVs. It’s casual elegance.”

Open since early summer 2014, Vernales is a chop house, sports bar and wine cellar, all rolled into one. Offering a selection of seafood, pasta, pizza, sandwiches, burgers and upscale pub fare, they’re most noted for its extensive list of dry-aged, prime and choice cut steaks.

“If it’s on the menu, try the 32-ounce Tomahawk dry-aged ribeye steak for two,” Gonzo advises.

Or, choose from a 10-ounce Delmonico, 18-ounce saw cut bone-in ribeye, 20-ounce Himalayan salt dry-aged American Wagyu bone-in ribeye, a 16-ounce Himalayan salt dry-aged American Wagyu bone-in strip, 32-ounce porterhouse for two and a 20-ounce barrel cut Chateaubriand tenderloin for two, carved tableside. Each comes with a variety of enhancements such as sautéed mushrooms, béarnaise, lump crab Oscar, bleu cheese crumbles or caramelized onions.

“We are overjoyed to have been awarded #1 Steakhouse in Michigan,” say owners Joe and Keith. “Words cannot express our gratitude and thankfulness to our out of town and local followers. Also, a very special thank you to the MLive employees who considered us.”

Vernales is truly one of a kind restaurant, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you are skiing and want a place to warm up with burgers and beers, or looking to take your significant other out for a romantic wedding anniversary celebration, you’ll find every option here. The number one focus is the guest and showing them a wonderful dining experience, served up at the hands of Joe Guthrie and Keith Lynch—who have 45-plus years combined experience private country clubs, resorts and restaurants.
