Cultural Center at St. Nicholas
Handmade pottery and sculpture by 40 of Southwest Michigan’s most recognized ceramic artists will be on display. Each of these local artists will present a full individual display of their work. They will be on hand to discuss their creative careers and their one of a kind creations. The diverse talent ranges from functional to decorative, stoneware to earthenware, jewelry to sculpture.
Several exciting features await the patrons of 2017 Springfest. A familiar exhibition site, the Cultural Center at St. Nicholas, also hosts the Annual Guild Fall Show. The spacious location allows for a leisurely appreciation of locally made ceramic art. An exciting collaboration for 2017 Springfest is the Woodland Weavers and Spinners Guild of Grand Rapids will be exhibiting with the West Michigan Potters Guild. For the fifth year, a large display of member’s handmade fiber work will be displayed alongside the pottery booths.
Springfest is Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Cultural Center at St. Nicholas, 2250 East Paris SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan
The West Michigan Potters Guild is an educational organization whose purpose is to develop professional exhibition opportunities for local artists. The Potters Guild supports independent artists, provides networking and sponsors educational and visiting artist workshops. The Guild is actively involved in Empty Bowls, which provides funds for God’s Kitchen of Grand Rapids, Artprize and sponsors several monetary awards to distinguished area exhibitions.
