Harbor Springs History Museum
Join the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society as they welcome Bob Tagatz, concierge and historian at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, for the next installment of their Harbor History Talk series. Tagatz’s talk will take place on Thursday, July 20th, 2017 and will celebrate the hotel’s 130th anniversary. Bob Tagatz is well known for his dynamic presentations about the hotel’s history and the Historical Society is thrilled to welcome him to the museum.
In addition to marking the birthday of the Grand Hotel, the Historical Society will also celebrate their local connection to the building. The Harbor Springs History Museum was originally constructed as the Emmet County Court House in 1886 by builder Charles W. Caskey. The following year, Caskey started and completed the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
Tagatz’s talk will begin at 5:30 pm on the second floor of the Harbor Springs History Museum, 349 E. Main Street, Harbor Springs and refreshments will be provided. Admission to the talk is $5 for adults and free for current Historical Society members. Due to limited seating, reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made by calling the Historical Society at (231) 526-9771.
Our 2017 Harbor History Talk series is sponsored by the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We thank them for this underwriting and for all the ways they support our community.
